The student newspapers were constituted in the most varied ways, inserting themselves in the daily life of public and private schools.The objective is to characterize the newspaper "ABC Literário" from its materiality.The school newspaper circulated at Osvaldo Cruz de Dourados Gymnasium, a city within the Brazilian border with Paraguay, is seized as a "document/monument" inserted in the perspective of the New Cultural History.The results indicate that the school newspaper has become an important instrument in the civilizing process that the institution should necessarily trigger with students, their families and local society.It is concluded that the student form has the potential
