Resumo

Background:In Brazil, Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (CL) is a major public health issue and affects the population living in the North region. Objectives: This study analyzed the spatial distribution of CL and its relationship with epidemiological and environmental risk factors in Cametá, Pará, Northern Brazil, from 2007 to 2016. Methods:The places where the cases occurred were georeferenced, and epidemiological and environmental analyses were carried out using spatial statistics techniques. Results:The epidemiological analysis showed association between the seasons and the disease. The disease mainly affected individuals who were males, adults, brown and had low schooling, lived in rural area, and had an occupation related to labor activities.Clusters of cases of the disease were identified in urban and rural areas, as well as direct and strong spatial autocorrelation between CL and deforestation. The disease was not distributed homogeneously, possibly because of the demographic dynamics of the municipality, with its intense migratory flows. Conclusion:We highlight the need for a more effective monitoring in the rainiest period, as well as in historically deforested areas, which are areas susceptible to the disease. The technologies used were satisfactory for the construction of epidemiological landscapes of the disease.
