Resumo

We have measured the isothermal magnetization of ${\mathrm{UBe}}_{13}$ to 60 T in a pulsed magnetic field. The measurements were made over a temperature range of 0.5 to 4 K. The data are well fit by both a $J=1/2$ Brillouin function model and a simple band model. Both fits extrapolate to a saturation moment of $1.9\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.2{\ensuremath{\mu}}_{B}/\mathrm{U}$ atom. Our results suggest that a metamagnetic transition in ${\mathrm{UBe}}_{13}$ is unlikely.
