espanolEl presente estudio tiene como finalidad realizar un analisis de las diferentes y contradictorias interpretaciones y recreaciones literarias que ha tenido la figura del rey de los elfos en los siglos XVIII, XIX y XX. A este respecto, hemos de recordar que el origen de la obra de Goethe proviene de una balada popular nordica conocida como «El rey de los alisos» la cual, en el ano 1782, versiono al aleman en forma de poema cambiando del titulo el termino «alisos» por el de «elfos». El mismo fue recreado narrativamente por Benedikte Naubert quien, en su Coleccion de cuentos populares alemanes (1789-1793), otorgo una particular vision de la historia haciendo hincapie en la figura de la hija del rey de los elfos. Tambien musicada por Schubert podemos encontrarla representada por distintas cantantes de opera tales como Anne Sofie von Otter o Jessye Norman. Asimismo, un literato muy afamado del siglo XX y aun hoy en dia, Michel Tournier, escribio una novela titulada El rey de los Alisos (1970) mostrandonos en ella su propia exegesis del misterioso y contradictorio personaje. Ademas, contamos con una adaptacion cinematografica contemporanea realizada por Volker Schlondorff, la cual sigue la linea de la obra de Tournier, titulada «El ogro» (1996). EnglishThe present study aims to conduct an analysis of the different and contradictory interpretations that has taken the figure of the king of the elves in literary, musical and cinematic recreations in the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries. In this regard, we must remember that the origin of the poem written by Goethe comes from a Nordic folk ballad known as «King of the alders» who, in 1782, covered the German poem by changing in the title the word «alders» by «elves». This poem was recreated by Benedikte Naubert who, in his collection of German folk tales (1789-1793), gave his personal view of history with emphasis on the figure of the daughter of the king of the elves. Moreover, it was also music by Schubert and currently we can find even represented by various opera singers such as Anne Sofie von Otter and Jessye Norman. Furthermore, we found that a very famous literary writer in the twentieth century, Michel Tournier, wrote the novel The King of the Alders (1970) giving his particular vision of the mysterious and contradictory character. In addition, we also have a contemporary cinematographic adaptation by Volker Schlondorff, which is in line with the work of Tournier, titled «The Ogre» (1996).
