ResumoThe rapid process of population aging in Brazil leads to the emergence of new demands, especially related to chronic-degenerative diseases and functional disabilities.In addition, this new reality should influence the training of health professionals, with academic leagues being a possibility for students to adapt to this new reality.We then seek to describe the process of reopening, restructuring and activities of the Academic League of Geriatrics and Gerontology of the Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Goiás.A bibliographic survey was carried out, outlining an overview of the academic leagues, as well as understanding the purpose of their creation.in addition to the schedule, objectives and extension actions to be carried out during the year.Extension, teaching and research actions were planned, following the university tripod.The Academic League of Geriatrics and Gerontology has provided moments of education and extension for countless students from different courses at UFG, in addition to favoring care for the elderly through different social actions.
