A LOUCURA DO SÉCULO XIX: O FANTÁSTICO E O LEITOR IMPLÍCITO EM “O CORAÇÃO DENUNCIADOR” E EM “O HORLA”:

ResumoRESUMO: O tema da loucura na literatura fantastica e vigente nas narrativas do seculo XIX. Em os contos “O coracao denunciador”, de Edgar Allan Poe e em “O Horla”, de Maupassant, a instabilidade mental e revelada, por vezes, por meio do comportamento dos personagens centrais. O presente trabalho destacara os pontos narrativos que revelam duas tensoes: de um lado, a possibilidade da loucura do narrador em primeira pessoa, e do outro, a aparicao de um elemento sobrenatural na diegese. Utilizaremos a teoria proposta por Todorov para salientar a maneira pela qual o leitor implicito pode preencher as lacunas textuais desses contos, as quais podem manipular a interpretacao. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Fantastico. Loucura. O coracao denunciador. O Horla. ABSTRACT: The madness theme in fantastic literature is presents in narratives of the nineteenth century. The tales The tell-tale heart, by Edgar Allan Poe and The Horla, by Maupassant, the mental instability is revealed, sometimes in the central characters behaviors. This paper will signalize the narrative points which reveal two tensions: on one hand, the possibility of the first-person narrator insanity, on the other hand, the introduction of supernatural. We will use the theory proposed by Todorov to signalize the manner in which the implied reader can fill the textual blanks which tend to interpretation module. KEYWORDS: Fantastic. Madness.
