Resumo

This article is an account of technical experience with the purpose of presenting an experience in the quilombola community of São Tomé, a town located in the rural area of Campo Formoso-Bahia, 34.6 km in line from the city center, with the implementation of a community garden in a rural school based on agroecological principles. The space is a construction site previously built by rural youths of the College Municipal Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro to produce vegetables, but this important school activity was not maintained. The Institute of Social and Agrarian Development (IDESA), an ATER entity hired by the Secretariat for Rural Development and the Bahian Superintendence for Technical Assistance and Rural Extension -Bahiater works in partnership with the school management, which is in constant dialogue on how to develop rural activities for the youth of the aforementioned.the school jointly decided to revitalize the aforementioned space for the production of organic vegetables in order to provide the young students of this academic year 2020 with a rural extension activity that has a direct relationship with the environment and soil, enabling an experience of caring for the land and valorization of local natural resources in a productive and sustainable way, in addition to promoting the sustainability of part of school meals through the production carried out in this place.
