ResumoThe present article describes the transmission of values, knowledge and practices in the educative everydays life nets of the cultural universe of Candomble – an afro-brazilian religion. Based upon the stories from the books “Caroco de dende – a sabedoria dos terreiros: como ialorixas e babalorixas passam conhecimentos a seus filhos” and “Historias que minha avo contava” by Mae Beata de Yemonja – an Ialorixa from a terreiro in the city of Nova Iguacu, state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and also upon conversations with her and her grandson, we tried to understand how the processes of cultural transmission and formation of identity take place in this context, and also to analyse which is the place of the child in this religious universe
