Escala de Likert en el nivel de conocimiento de Diabetes Tipo 2 en la provincia de Santa Elena

Resumo

The objective of this work was to determine the level of knowledge of type 2 diabetes in the population of the province of Santa Elena from May 15 th to 30 th, 2019. Methodology: Observational, cross-sectional and descriptive research was carried out on a sample of 770 inhabitants from the province of Santa Elena, the data collection instrument was the Likert Scale prepared and validated which for this purpose contained 8 statements on the knowledge of type 2 diabetes. The results showed: that 54.3% of the respondents were women and 45.7% men. The average age of the population was 37 years, ± 0.498 SD. The highest level of ignorance about type 2 diabetes corresponded to the female sex with 19%, in the group of adults with 30% and who attended the secondary level 18%. When the level of ignorance of the 8 statements was averaged, the percentage was 37%; reaching to the conclusion that it is necessary to intervene through health promotion in order to decrease the incidence of type 2 diabetes in the province of Santa Elena.
