ResumoThe first part of the present paper gives an outline about the South Mendoza's Late Cretaceous stratigraphy with special reference to Zampal section. The Piso del Ranquil beds, Groeber 1929 (= Rayoso beds of South Mendoza sensu H. Doucloux, 1946) are correlated with the Neuquen Group from Neuquen Province. The second part deals with continental and brackish ostracods and charophytes -in part Maastrichtian- which are found in Zampal (Neuquen Basin - Andean Region). Aditional information about allied foraminifers is reported. Twenty eight species of ostracods, eight of charophytes and eight of foraminifers are recognized. Wolburgiopsis nov. gen. of Ostracoda, and 6 new species of Ostracoda and 2 new species of Charophyta are described for the first time. Information about presumed salinity of the best represented ostracods and charophytes and a table with the distribution of the microfossils in the profile are presented. Some affinities between the Maastrichtian charophytes -including some non-rnarine ostracods-and from Yacoraite and other allied South American florules are discussed
