Tratamento da Osteoartrite de Coluna Vertebral: Análise Tecnológica de Patentes / Treatment of Spine Osteoarthritis: Technological Analysis of Patents

Spine and Intervertebral Disc Pathology

Atraves de documentos de patentes, objetivou-se verificar tecnologias utilizadas para tratamento da osteoartrite da coluna vertebral (OCV). As buscas de patentes foram realizadas nos bancos European Patent Office (EPO), United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) e World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), utilizando-se os descritores “osteoarthritis spinal”; “osteoarthritis spine”; “osteoarthritis lumbar” e “osteoarthritis cervical”. Todos os documentos publicados a partir de 2010 que apresentaram esses termos no titulo, resumo ou reivindicacoes e indicaram tratamento foram analisados. Apos leitura dos manuscritos completos, 12 documentos foram elegiveis para este estudo; nove patentes mencionam regressao do processo patologico, atraves de um tratamento subcondral, no qual um material fluido ou solido e injetado na regiao subcondral de um corpo vertebral. Outras duas invencoes oriundas da China utilizam plantas medicinais, seja por cera de moxabustao ou pomada topica, para tratamento da OCV, especificamente da regiao cervical, para alivio dos sintomas algicos. Somente uma patente analisada nao percebe a secao A (codigo IPC- Classificacao Internacional de Patentes): trata-se de um dispositivo de prateleira de tela do computador para prevenir e evitar a progressao de osteoartrite cervical. Dessa forma, as tecnologias analisadas na presente pesquisa podem servir de complemento a literatura de artigos cientificos e a pratica clinica, no entanto, mais revisoes de patentes sao necessarias. ABSTRACT Through patent documents, the objective was to verify technologies used to treat spinal (OCV). Patent searches were carried out at the European Patent Office (EPO), United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) using the descriptors “osteoarthritis spinal”; Osteoarthritis spine; Lumbar osteoarthritis and All documents published since 2010 that presented these terms in the title, summary or claims and indicated treatment were analyzed. After reading the full manuscripts 12 documents were eligible for this study, nine patents mention regression of the pathological process through a subchondral treatment in which a fluid or solid material is injected into the subchondral region of a vertebral body. Two other inventions from China use medicinal plants either by moxibustion wax or topical ointment for OCV treatment specifically for the cervical region to relieve pain symptoms. Only one patent analyzed does not notice section A (IPC code - International Patent Classification) is a computer screen shelf device to prevent and prevent progression of cervical osteoarthritis. Thus, the technologies analyzed in this research can complement the literature of scientific articles and clinical practice, however, more patent reviews are needed. Keywords: Osteoarthritis, Spine.
