Resumo

Please join me in welcoming Niraj V. Kalore, M.D., to our Arthroscopy editorial team as our first Visual Abstracts Editor. Dr. Kalore is Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Born in India, Niraj did his medical training internship and residency there, leading to a postgraduate master’s degree in Orthopaedic Surgery. He came to the United States in 2008 for 2 Adult Reconstruction Fellowships at the University of Minnesota and at Virginia Commonwealth University. He then went further south to the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, for an Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship and returned to Richmond for a post-Baccalaureate Graduate Certificate in Medical Education at Virginia Commonwealth, where he now practices and teaches. Niraj pursued the academic scholar pathway for board certification with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is now board eligible. He is on track to complete his certification next year. He is an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) and serves on the journal Social Media Board. He serves on the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons Digital Health and Social Media Committee. Niraj started as a reviewer for Arthroscopy in 2012 and was invited to join the Editorial Board in 2014. Niraj is passionate about enhancing orthopaedic practice, education, and research using right-brain tools like visual abstracts, infographics, posters, and videos. Niraj is married to Anjali, a physician and Wellness Coach, and they have 2 daughters. His hobbies include piano and meditation. On that note, he is a practitioner of Kriya-yoga meditation as taught by the Self-realization Fellowship founded by Paramahansa Yogananda, the author of Autobiography of a Yogi.
