ResumoBrave, produced in 2012 by Disney and Pixar Studios, brings the first female protagonist in a Pixar film, Merida, who resists gender impositions and questions her role as a woman and princess in her society, disagreeing with her mother, Queen Elinor.Given this, this article aims to answer the question: What actions of Merida in the animated film Brave deconstruct the image of Disney traditional princess?To answer this question, the main objective of this paper is to analyze scenes of conflict between the princess and her mother in which she breaks with gender and title standards imposed to her.In order to achieve this general objective, specific objectives have been set, to explore publications that address the theoretical assumptions of feminist theory, to point out Disney princesses' characteristics since 1937, and to discuss the feminist general representations of Merida and the film.For this, a research of qualitative approach of bibliographic-exploratory type was carried out in the light of feminist theory, based on authors such as Beauvoir (1967), Ferreira (2015), among others.To sum up, Brave deconstructs the princess's passive and submissive representation for its protagonist's personality breaks up with the expected attributes for Disney princesses.
