ResumoStrategic Health Planning is very important not only to organize health services but also to promote problem solving, as it aims to reach the critical nodes that are present at the moment and propose effective actions for reality.Objective: To describe the moments of strategic health planning, based on a fictitious case about the early death of a patient with breast cancer.Methodology: The selection of studies that dealt with the actions related to the prevention of this neoplasia and the constitution of health planning was carried out, and the studies included in this one, provided a basis for practical application.Results: It was observed that the lack of planning for carrying out health actions is detrimental to the resolution of care.Thus, the review demonstrated the importance of using this to provide a reduction in breast cancer cases.The need for articulated work in a network with effective activities in women's health, sufficient financial resources to subsidize the entire process and used consciously, fitting in with the real needs and epidemiological and professional indicators suitable for care and early diagnosis, reinforcing here the need of continuing education in health services.
