Resumo

This work proposes a new didactic approach to the problem of angular stability to large perturbations of an Electrical Power System (SEP) for undergraduate education. There are two main innovative contributions that differentiate the proposed approach from others commonly employed for the same purpose: a) the construction of the area of attraction of the post-fault system, which allows the student to establish a visual and intuitive connection of the physical problem of SEP with concepts of nonlinear dynamic systems; and b) the use of an approximate equivalent model of the Itaipu Binacional Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP), which may increase the interest of the undergraduate student for the connection established with a hydroelectric plant of major importance to the Brazilian electricity sector. It is emphasized that the proposed approach can be fully reproduced without the need for commercial programs. In addition, the analysis of the impact of model parameter variations on stability can be easily viewed, as shown by the results of the work.
