Conservation and Current Status of Cacti and Succulent Plant Collections in Cibodas Botanical Garden

ResumoCibodas Botanical Garden (CBG) is an institute for ex-situ plant conservation. Botanical garden routinely engaged in conservation, research, education, environmental services and ecotourism activities. Cacti and succulent are common ornamental plant which are introduced to CBG. This study aimed to re- inventory cacti and succulent collections in Cibodas Botanical Garden, also to determine its conservation status based on IUCN redlist. In order to manage cacti and succulent collections, CBG was established two green houses, one for cacti collections and the other one for succulent collections. Currently, CBG hold approximately 2.291 specimens of cacti and succulent. It consists of 17 family, 81 genus, and 206 species. Among those collections, there are nine species from Cactaceae, one species from Xanthorrhoeaceae, and one species from Asparagaceae are listed in IUCN redlist. Those species are Aloe jucunda, Cleistocactus winteri, Dracaena draco, Echinocactus grusonii, Eriosyce chilensis, Mammillaria parkinsonii, Mammillaria petrophila, Parodia concinna, Parodia magnifica, Rhipsalis dissimilis, and Turbinicarpus alonsoi.
