ResumoThe Russian lawyer and economist Rodolfo Ritter (1864-1946) settled in Paraguay in 1902 and, with the exception of a brief residence in Posadas (Argentina), he remained in the country until his death. A friend of the most reputable intellectuals of the first decades of the twentieth century, a regular interlocutor of those who made up the leading cast of the country was, during the government of Eligio Ayala (1824-28) technical advisor in the Ministry of Finance. This study recovers Ritter's performance as an expert and focuses on his ideas about the political and social conditions of Paraguay through the study of unpublished letters with the historian Juan E. O'Leary between 1919 and 1929.
