ResumoThe hammerhead shark is considered a cartilaginous fish, found in our tropical regions. The economic exploitation of sharks in recent years has become a worldwide problem, due to the fishing of these fish aiming at the economy. The objective of the work was to describe the oral anatomy of the hammerhead shark, of the species Sphyrna lewini, correlating with its feeding, since there are few scientific studies about the species. The sharks, being considered by cath fishery and don´t commercial, were donated by the trawling fleet of Praia do Pereque, in the municipality of Guarujá-SP.Initially, the material collected was fixed in 10% formaldehyde and then macroscopic analyzes of the pieces were made in the animal anatomy laboratory at the University of Guarulhos (UNG).Measurements were previously determined with the following references: measurements 1,2,3 (1: tip of the head to the upper part of the mouth, 2: between the pre-labial grooves, 3: from the apex of the mouth to the imaginary line passing between the pre-labial grooves) of the cavities. All measurements and analyzes were photo documented.Soon after, dissections were performed to describe the anatomical structures of the shark species. The hammerhead shark has an oral cavity, composed of the square palate (upper jaw), Meckel's cartilage (lower jaw) and a dental arch. The mouth has an arched shape, the mouth begins posterior to the eyes, its apex just above the line of the postorbital process and its base ends posterior to the chondrocranium. It was concluded that the
