Of note, such a difference was significant (P < 0.001) at 3- and 6-month follow-up but was no longer obvious (P > 0.001) after 1 year. A recent meta-analysis revealed a similar pattern (2); of interest, when comparing the 2 diets at 12-month follow-up, such variables as the 10-year Framingham Risk Score and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels differed significantly but remarkably did not differ at 3-month follow-up (P > 0.001) (1).
