ResumoIn recent years, when analyzing the defining characteristics of the XXI st century, several specialists in sociology, politology or philosophy have observed that its social «scene» comes to be more and more dominated by the game of alternatives, by free thinking and a large diversity of possible interpretations. In their opinion, it goes without saying that, under the new historical conditions, a life style centered upon discontinuity, relativism and dynamism will prevail.Within such a context, individualism, egalitarianism, universalism and progressivism will most probably appear as landmarks for the attitudes to be adopted and also for the main lines of actions to be followed.
