ISBN 9781536217285 $16.99 Reviewed from digital galleys R 2-5 yrs Fluffykins, a pudgy orange tabby, is a very naughty cat. Despite the discouraging of our unseen narrator, he manages to knock over a vase, ransack a knitting basket, rip up toilet paper, ruin blinds, and, worst of all, pee on the floor. It’s only after being banished to the backyard and getting caught in the rain that he evinces remorse. Still, he is a cat, and this lively picture book ends with the family goldfish in dire straits. With bold serifed text, crisp white backgrounds, and digital art reminiscent of colored pencils, O’Byrne tells a simple, charming tale that rings true for anyone [End Page 392] who cohabits with a cat. Giggles will abound as Fluffykins gleefully wreaks havoc, and the narrator’s admonishments and Fluffykins’s mischievous antics (complete with an utterly feline scowl) will make this a sure favorite for group storytime. This will be a great pick for fans who appreciate the willful chaos of Shannon’s David or Mo Willems’s Pigeon. Copyright © 2021 The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois
