Effect of insecticides on lir>iomyz a sati vaeBlanchard , 1938 (Diptera: Agromyzidae) , on cucumber ( Cuaumis sativus L .)Field experiments were conducted on cucumber ( Cuaumis sa tivus L.) to investigate the effect of organophosphate , carba mate and pyrethroid insecticides, on larvae of Li r>i o myza sati vae Blanchard, 1938, and on the yield.Cartap was the only i n secticide which kept the population of L .sativa e significan= tly below the untrated plots .Methomyl caused an outbreak of l .sativae .No significant differences were found among the t reatments, when evaluated by the yield , and the sarne occurred between the two treatment intervals tested .During summer, high temperatures affected the life cycle of l .sativae in a negative way causing low infestations , while from May to July the populations were considerably higher , dueto favourable temperatures for its development .Insecticide applications on c11cumber, against L .sa ti va e , may be reduced or e limi-nated, particularly in summe,, favouring the natural control by its parasitoids .
