ResumoBackground: Surgical outcomes in postbariatric patients are strongly influenced by the patient's nutritional status. Follow-up management and nutritional preparation for bariatric patients undergoing subsequent surgeries present great variation in practice and in the existing literature. There is a need to standardize and summarize nutritional recommendations to optimize preparation for following surgeries and rescue nutritional care. This study aims to define the preoperative nutritional parameters for the evaluation of postbariatric patients. Methods: A literature review was carried out in the databases of the National Library of Medicine (Medline), the electronic library of the Electronic On-line Library (SciELO) in Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), and Embase from January 2008 to October 2018. Articles were selected by inclusion, noninclusion, and exclusion criteria and then were fully reviewed by two examiners independently and the agreement between examiners was assessed using Kappa coefficient. The content of the selected articles was submitted to the thematic analysis. Results: Through this review, recommendations regarding routine testing, prophylactic and therapeutic supplementation, and multidisciplinary follow-up for postbariatric patients were identified in the literature. Conclusion: Nutritional parameters for the preoperative evaluation of postbariatric patients were identified in the articles selected for this review and summarized.
