ResumoInterference of Sunlight and Precipitation on the Efficacy ofAbanleclin andCartap iii Control li ng Tuta absoluta (Meyric k) (Lepidoptera: Gelechidac) ABSTRAC'T -The persistence and the efficacy ofabainectin and cartaj) against Titia absohiia (T\leyrick) on toniato (Lrcopervicon esculeoíuni ) leavcs were evaluated.Abaniectin showed transiaminar activity killing larvae that were inside the mines.Sunlight reduced abamectin persistence. In cloudy days.the insecticide caused high larval mortality 24 hours after spraying, compared to absence ofmortality observed in Ireatments kept under sunlight. The mixture abarnectin -4-mineral oil was more persistent than abamectin alone.Cartap persistence was reduced hy rainfall ol' 3 .3mni/24hours.
