ResumoOccurrence of polygyny in Acromyr>mex subterr>aneusForel, 1893 (Hy menopter a : Fo r>mi cidae)The coexistence of two or ITDre queens in the sarne colony is nota very rare event insocial Hymenoptera, although it is rather uncommon among the leaf-cutting ants (Attini).Despite of this, a colony of Acromyrmex subter>r>aneus containing two queens was coll ected in the campus of the Universidade Federal de Viçosa, Brazil.The nest has been mai tained in the laboratory for fur t her studies on the behavior and the aspect of physiological polygyny of the colony.
