Effect of corn genotypes on the biology of Spodoptercz frl4giperda (J.E.Smith, 1797) (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) This research was carried out to study some biological aspects of Spodoptera frugperda (J.E.Smith, 1797) on six corn genotypes (Cateto Palha Roxa, Zapalote Chico, IAC Hmd 7974, IAC Hmd 8214, IAC Mays XXI and IAC 1 XX), and to determine the effect of such genotypes on the biology of the insect. The experiment was set in laboratory at 27 ± 1°C, 60 ± 10% R.H. and 14-hour photophase. The larvae were fed with leaves from 20 to 40 -days old plants. It was observed the effect of the cjenotypes on the length of the larval stage, on larval and pupal weight as well as on the víability of the egg, larval and pumal stages.Based on these parametera, partof which were jointly analysed by the "Potencial Reprodutivo Corrigido" index it was concluded that Cateto Palha Roxa and Zapalote Chico were the less suitable genotypes for the insect development, while IAC Maya XXI was the most suitable one.
