ResumoPopulational fluct uation of the citrus borer,Cratosomus fl avo fasciatus Guerin, 1844 (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) on the trap plant,Co r dia ver be nacea (Borragin aceae)The citrus borer, Cratosomus f lavofasci a tus is the principal citrus pest in the Recôncavo Baiano region.From Februa ry 1983 to July 1985 adult beetles were regularly collected in the Centro Nacional de Pesquisa de Mandioca e Fruticultura at Cruz das Almas, Bahia, by means of the trap plant Cordia ve r benacea , to study the populational fluctuation of the pes~ its interactions with climatic factors and the equilibrium threshold.During 2 9 months 6. O 11 beet les were collected: 2. 952, 2.130 a nd 929 in 1983, 1 984 and 1985 respectively.The total monthly average of trapped insects was used to determine the equilibrium threshold of 246, 174,5 and 72,9 for the three years, respectively.The period of the h ighest population den s ity ranged from February to May with a peak in March/Ap ril~ Between July and December the adult popu lation was reduced to no detection level.I nsect trapping was corre lated positively with the mean temperature and negatively with precipitation.
