Resumoln the context of Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), that has neither been ratified nor implemented in Argent¡na, the authors of this article describe the consequences of not having done ¡t and the impact of smoking in this country, as well as the components of antitobacco strategy represented by the English abbreviation 'MPOWER'.lt includes endemia monitoring; population protection of second-hand smoke; offering help to stop smoking; warning of dangers of smok¡ng; advertising, promotion and sponsorship prohibition; and tobacco tax raising.They also describe tobacco industry strategies of lobbying and the potential benefits of ratifing FCTC in terms of its publ¡c health impact.
