ResumoThe northern part of the Sea of Okhotsk is currently a grey area in terms of the degree of knowledge on the taxonomy and distribution of some non-commercial fish families, especially Zoarcidae, which are represented here by a large number of species. The species composition and spatial distribution of eelpouts in the northwestern Sea of Okhotsk outer shelf and adjacent upper continental slope are described based on 2013 bottom trawl survey data. A rich and diverse zoarcid fish fauna are found. A total of 3664 specimens distributed among 6 genera and 19 species are registered. The study incorporated two areas of the shelf with temperatures below and above −1 °C, both possessed a high species diversity but different species composition. A clear vertical zonation pattern was revealed in the distribution of the species.
