Resumo

This paper is based on a presentation with the same name that I did in the ColoquioInternacional Cosmopoliticas II – Primaveras cosmopoliticas, in 2020. In it, I propose an alternativesense for the concept of the decolonial. This sense of the decolonial is produced by establishing a parallel between the turn, in contemporary theory, from poststructuralism/deconstruction to speculative theories (speculative realism, ontological turn, new materialisms etc.), and a possible analogous turn, in the study of coloniality, from an epistemological/deconstructive postcolonialism linked to the critique of colonial discourse, to a decolonial ontology/metaphysics which focuses on animating non-occidental and non-modern ontologies. In contrast both to the internal criticism of modernity/coloniality, and to the discovery of non-modern epistemologies, what is suggested is the “decolonization of thought” through the co-production of decolonial ontologies/metaphysics.
