Resumo

Portuguese Abstract: Este trabalho discute as implicacoes da decisao do STF que amplia o numero de beneficiarios do Beneficio de Prestacao Continuada ao flexibilizar o limite de renda para seu recebimento. A Corte realizou uma escolha distributiva e politica com custos de oportunidade significativos, o que fica claro quando os efeitos dessa decisao sao comparados ao de politicas como o Bolsa Familia e o Brasil Carinhoso. English Abstract: This paper analyzes the implications of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court judgment that expanded the number of people eligible for a social benefit called Beneficio de Prestacao Continuada. This judgment has policy implications and opportunity costs that become clear when the expected impact of this decision is compared to the cost and effectiveness of other social policies such as Bolsa Familia and Brasil Carinhoso.
