Resumo

The recognition of tri or tetra analytes (cations or anions or biomolecules) by single simple organic colorimetric and fluorometric probes through the absorption and emission responses in aqueous, non-aqueous and cell circumstances were demonstrated. Essentiality and toxicity of these analytes and different sensing mechanism were also discussed. • Details essentiality and toxicity of metal ions, anions and biomolecules are discussed. • Different fluorescence mechanisms with examples are properly described. • Simple organic probes (1 to 117) are summarised for recognition of tri and tetra analyte. • Probes; 1-99, 100-110 and 111-117 are summarised for multi metal ions, anions and biomolecules respectively. Metal cations, anions and biomolecules are plays important roles in various physiological processes, and their low and high concentration level may hamper such normal biological events. Keep in mind of such significant and insignificant of cations, anions and biomolecules several recognition process has been developed by researchers. Among such processes, colorimetric and fluorometric probes for recognition of cations or anions or biomolecules has been extensively used in recent years. In the present time, several colorimetric and fluorometric probes has been reported from various research groups for the selective recognition of essential and non-essential cations and anions. Although, numerous problems and challenges still exist in this field. In this review, different organic colorimetric and fluorometric probes for selective and sensitive detection of tri or tetra analyte are summarised. However, large number of review on recognition of one or two cations, anions and biomolecules by single probe are reported, but review on recognition of tri or tetra analyte is still on demand. Thus, here in this review we highlighting some pioneering and representative works from different research groups in the world those made significant contributions on the detection of multi analyte including metal ions, anions and biomolecules by simple organic colorimetric and fluorometric probes. Furthermore, different sensing mechanism such as PET , ICT , AIE , FRET , CHEF , ESIPT and Excimer or exciplex are properly described in this review.
