Autores ResumoElise Boulding is a pioneer in peace- and conflict research: As a sociologist with a transdisciplinary orientation she succeeded in a multilevel-analysis - from the individual and gender relations, family, local communities and societies to international governmental and non-state based organizations on world level and the ecology on earth. She considers the mutual impacts between these levels as decisive for the building or preventing a peace culture. Boulding pleads to build comprehensive agency by promoting historical awareness and future imagination on all these levels with the aim at transforming the unavoidable conflicts between the unique and divers human beings in the direction of peace cultures of their communities. Still today, this approach is lacking a stronger institutionalization. Boulding was opposed to separate life from intellectual work; therefor this contribution gives also a short insight into her life.
