Este artigo tem como mote a tela A Jovem mártir (1855), do pintor francês Paul Delaroche. Tal imagem é analisada a partir de três problemáticas centrais. Primeiramente, a partir da tríade: imagem, homem e mulher amada; em seguida, é analisada como retrato; e, por último, é abordado o tema da morte e suas relações com a imago. As problemáticas possibilitaram analisar a pintura de Delaroche a partir de três possíveis interpretações. Cada qual identificou a mulher pintada como uma diferente personagem. Uma jovem cristã morta sobre as águas do Rio Tibre. A esposa do pintor: Louise Vernet. E, por fim, como uma Ninfa warburguiniana.AbstractThis article has as its motto the portrait "The young martyr" (1855) by the French painter Paul Delaroche. I analyzed the image from three central issues. First, from the triad: image, beloved man and woman. Then, I raised the subject of the portrait. Finally, I addressed the topic of death and its relationship with the image. The problems made it possible to analyze Delaroche's painting from three possible interpretations. Each one identified the painted woman as a different character. A young Christian woman dead on the waters of the Tiber River. The painter's wife, Louise Vernet. And finally, as a Warburguinian nymph.
