Code-Switching On Enrique Iglesias' Song Lyrics: A Specific Origin Study on Sociolinguistic and Syntactic Point Of View

This research aims (1) to identify the code- switching types (2) to analyze the syntactic units contained in Enrique Iglesias' international album based on Poplack's theory. Descriptive method, a method that describes a situation, things or events in a systematic, actual and accurate manner is employed in this research. The research source used to obtain data is the lyrics of the song Enrique Iglesias in Spotify application. The results of this study indicate that (1) there are two types of code switching found in Enrique Iglesias album, the first is intrasentential code switching with a total of 17 data (56.7%) and intersentential code switching with a total of 13 data (43.3%), (2) there are three syntactic units found, namely words with a total of 6 data (20%), phrases with a total of 5 data (16.7%) and clauses with a total of 19 data (63.3%).
