ResumoThe objective of this investigation was to identify the contributions of the relationship between theory and practice in improving the educational practices of teachers who work in rural schools.Critical qualitative research was based on the Licentiate Degree for Rural Education (LEdoC), at the Federal University of Piauí, Campus Ministro Petrônio Portella, in Teresina-PI.The interlocutors were 05 (five) teachers from rural schools.In order to collect the data, we use observation, conversation circles and documentary analysis of the Pedagogical Project from the Researched Undergraduate Course.The results indicate that the initial teacher training at LEdoC allows overcoming the paradigmatic related to rural education and promotes innovations.Thus, the practice gains meaning and it is not seen as a mere application of theory.On the other hand, practice is seen as a search reference for the re-signification of educational practice, considering the felt and perceived needs.
