ResumoThe reaction of [U(NR2)3] (R = SiMe3) with 2 equiv of 2,6-dimethylphenyl isocyanide results in the isolation of the U(III) bis(isocyanide) complex [U(NR2)3(CNXyl)2] (1) in 50% yield. Addition of 1 equiv of [Cp*2Co] to 1 results in formation of the isocyanide-coupled U(IV) complex [Cp*2Co][{η2-C,N-(Xyl)NCCN(Xyl)}U(NR2)3] (2), which can be isolated in 45% yield after workup. Complex 2 was characterized by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. In the solid state, its acetylenediamide ligand features an η2-N,C binding mode.
