ResumoThe present study was carried out to determine the impact of the Serlui-B hydel project on water quality of Serlui river, Mizoram, North East India, using two popular mathematical indices, i.e. water quality index (WQI) and synthetic pollution index (SPI) and various water quality parameters.Three sampling sites were selected upstream and downstream of the river relative to the hydel project site. The computation of WQI and SPI indicates good quality of water at site 1 (upstream of the reservoir). In site 2 (in the reservoir) and site 3 (downstream of the reservoir) water quality got poorer because of the decrease in dissolved oxygen.
