While COVID-19 has brought many devastating consequences globally, there have been some silver linings as well, an important one of which has been further acceleration in digital and social media–based education. RadioGraphics has an established tradition of excellence in medical education in radiology. The journal has also built a presence on the social media platforms Twitter and Facebook, procuring a global interest in its published educational content. To support this effort, the RadioGraphics Social Media and Digital Innovation (SMDI) team was launched in 2021 (1). The team is a diverse representation of radiology subspecialists chosen from around the world. This group is charged with developing creative and innovative ways to further social media–based medical education and foster impactful engagement with RadioGraphics in the digital world. One of the paramount roles of the SMDI team lies in creating accessible, concise, informative supplementary content to spur conversation and interest in current RadioGraphics content. The bonus content focuses on condensing the key points of an article, with an eye toward increasing engagement, readership, and global reach. What Is @RadG_Editor?The social media presence of RadioGraphics is now well established, and after receiving an outstanding response to content, the journal launched a new Twitter account, @RadG_Editor, in May 2021. The key objectives of the account are to (a) augment the work of RadioGraphics authors by increasing the visibility of recently published articles through supplementary bonus content; (b) extend the breadth of engagement with the SMDI member-generated content; (c) serve as a central repository for supplementary content such as podcasts, digital tables of content (#DigitalTOC), and engaging continuing medical education (CME) questions; and (d) host tweetchats presented by the SMDI team. What Can You Expect to Find on @RadG_Editor?With an eye toward increasing the audience receiving the well-presented educational content in RadioGraphics articles and in collaboration with the SMDI team members, the @RadG_Editor account is working diligently to amplify content through various means. One such effort includes podcasts (downloadable digital audio files that can be accessed through any electronic device such as a mobile phone, tablet computer, laptop, or desktop) hosted by Wende Gibbs, MD, and covering select RadioGraphics articles to promote the authors' efforts and contributions to the journal. Medical education podcasts can serve as a robust but concise source of reliable information to facilitate education at various levels of training and practice, while being presented in a conveniently consumed format (2,3).@RadG_Editor will also serve as a platform to share the journal issue digital table of contents—presented as #DigitalTOC on Twitter. The #DigitalTOC is created in partnership with the RadioGraphics Visual Abstract Team and comprises the article title, contributing authors, associated visual abstract, and full-text hyperlink to access the complete article. The #DigitalTOC is posted on the @RadG_Editor account following the release of each new RadioGraphics issue. This presents the viewer with a concise and engaging method to peruse the current issue's content and provides easy access to any full article piquing the viewer's interest through the journal website. To enhance social media engagement with RadioGraphics, @RadG_Editor will present challenging CME questions and polls relevant to the published article. The account will promote article-based CME questions through polls and encourage readers to seek answers and thorough explanations for questions within the indexed RadioGraphics article. Moreover, readers can formally claim CME credit through their RSNA/RadioGraphics account. Many benefits of social media are evident in the context of medical education. One of the most important benefits is using social media as a platform for live discussion through sessions such as tweetchats, facilitating opportunities for educators and learners of all levels to interact. In the Twitterverse, a tweetchat is a discussion focused on a particular topic by the host utilizing a designated hashtag (#), allowing interested people to participate and contribute. In 2021, RadioGraphics hosted another engaging tweetchat, on the topic "To Engage or Not to Engage? A New Era for Medical Student Education in Radiology," which focused on trainee-oriented radiology education and discussed topics including promoting early-career involvement of medical students in radiology and incorporating emotional intelligence training in residency. Tweetchats hosted by the @RadG_Editor account will be radiology education centric and are designed to encourage participants from every corner of the world to indulge and share expertise and viewpoints, irrespective of their geographic location or skill level. We Are Here Because You Are HereThe RadioGraphics SMDI team truly values the opinion of journal readers to establish the medium of radiology education based on the source of content they would like to see presented on the @RadG_Editor account. Please help guide our efforts toward content that is the most helpful and enjoyable for you by taking a moment to fill out the brief survey shared at the end of this article. The SDMI team is working diligently to bring radiology's premier journal-based educational content to the digital world of medical education through social media by presenting high-yield, concise, easily approachable educational material. We encourage you to follow the @RadG_Editor account on Twitter and to make RadioGraphics educational content a new social media friend. Please respond to the survey at this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5ZZSLRYAll authors have disclosed no relevant relationships.References1.
