The article seeks to understand the experiences of black women between 1890 and 1899 in Recife. For that, we will use as sources to locate them the notes of the police columns of the newspaper Diario de Pernambuco. This material will allow an approximation to the experiences of these women, based on a fragmented collection of information due to the characteristics of the source, such as the adoption of the Conceicao name or surname to escape the police. From the methodological point of view we chose to elaborate tables in Excel where we systematized information about these women and the episodes where they were caught. This work made use of the analytical perspective of Social History which privileges.
