ResumoAbstract: This article focuses on the analysis of episcopal supervision at the Nossa Senhora da Conceicao da Ajuda Convent in Rio de Janeiro between the years 1750 to 1806. This establishment was founded in 1750 for women with the aim of following the religious life. In this way, he had the supervision of bishops for being under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of Rio de Janeiro. In this way, we will conduct our appreciation through the work of the bishops D. Fr. Antonio do Desterro Malheiros (1746-1773), and the prelate D. Jose Justiniano Mascarenhas Castelo Branco (1773-1805), with the intention of establishing a relationship with political and ecclesiastical foundation that marked the institutional dynamics of the Old Regime. And through this proposal, we will also try to demonstrate, the relationship between these religious with the nuns of the Convento da Ajuda, mainly those who held the positions of capitulars like the Abbesses and Vicar Maids.
