ResumoMost remarkable dental features of juvenile and adult specimens of Andescynodon mendozensis Bonaparte (Cynodontia, Traversodontidae) are described. The craneomandibular and dental features of representatives of this species share -with slight variations- a common structural pattern among Traversodontidae of Puestoviejan Reptile age-i.e., Andescynodon, Pascualgnathus and Rusconiodon-, An adjusted dental mechanism is inferred, with mainly orthal mandibular movements and an occlusal guide system represented by the complex canines-paracanine fossae. The postcanine morphology of A. mendozensis and the inferred masticatory mechanisms suggest opportunistic dietary habits for this species, probably omnivorous or omnivore-insectivorous habits, but not strictly herbivore.
