Medieval Architecture and Archaeology

The archaeological rescue excavation developed in the site of Quinta da Fidalga revealed a badly conserved cultural layer from the Middle Bronze Age. It corresponds probably to a temporary camp connected to agro-pastoral activities, without any preserved architectural remains, in an open landscape. The comparison between Quinta da Fidalga and other contemporary sites from the Middle Guadiana river, namely the Castillo de Alange (Badajoz), indicates a high level of social inequality and a strong hierarchical settlement regional system.
