ResumoWiley H. Shearin, Jr. Principal, Cameron Park Elementary School Though most educators and psychologists acknowledge that consistency is essential for good discipline, little has been done experimentally to study the relationship that exists between teacher consistency and student control and student alienation. A recent study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has focused on certain aspects of consistency or extent of agreement of faculty on pupil control ideology and its relationship to student alienation. The researcher hypothesized that the degree of consistency of student control belief by faculty members would be inversely correlated with the amount of student alienation. Precisely, the more agreement or consistency there is among the faculty on pupil control, the less student alienation will occur.
