J. ; van den Bergh, Sidney Abstract Radio observations with the NRAO interferometer have been combined with optical observations obtained with the 200-inch (5 m) Hale telescope to study the structure of the nuclear region of M82. Both the radio and the optical observations show complex structure near the center of M82. There is no detailed correspondence between individual radio components and optical hot spots. In particular it is found that the radio component of highest surface brightness does not coincide with the 10- source observed by Kleinmann and Low or with any of the optical superclusters studied by van den Bergh.
