ResumoThe carina industry is one of the handicrafts that has recently shifted towards the use of machines and energy resources, and is based on making use of an agricultural raw material of limited value, which is palm fronds, and converting it into an intermediate product, the carina.The Karina industry has three main stages, starting with maceration in concrete basins prepared for this; Then the stage of chopping, which is managed by electric power, and drying using solar radiation in the empty areas of the factory.The Karina industry is endemic in Assiut Governorate in the villages of Al-Fath centers, Assiut, Sahel Selim and Abnoub.It is a rural industry in its settlement sites, in its raw material and in the labor force in it.Feeding industries for the furniture industry to which the manufacturing operations are linked, as the manufacturing operations of flaps and the production of carinas depend on the actual demand and not on the design industrialization of these factories, which represents a fundamental problem in the growth and development of this industry in Assiut Governorate.
