Many of you know we lost a truly great American and sports icon this year when “Hammering” Henry “Hank” Aaron passed away. Some of you may also know he was my uncle. I was around him quite a bit in the years leading up to his historic 715th home run. I still cannot believe I was sitting in the family box when Babe Ruth's record was broken. On numerous occasions to follow, we shared celebrations and family gatherings, even after he retired from baseball. I also had the honor of hosting him on wine tasting excursions and in my home in San Francisco (Fig. 1). In response to an invitation to reminisce about my uncle and mentor, I prepared the following thoughts.
