ResumoSince 1960 when HEMA contact lens (CL) were first developed by Otto Wichterle, there have been significant improvements in the hydrogel CL arena [1]; materials with higher oxygen permeability, increased replacement frequencies, more effective and biocompatible CL care systems, and more acceptable designs, has allowed a massive increase in the number of wearers, representing nowadays 87% of CL fittings worldwide [2].
