ResumoThe source of this article is the panel that was held in conjunction with The Open Group Conference in San Francisco during the week of January 30, 2012. The Open Group is a vendor- and technology-neutral industry consortium with more than 400 member organizations, including Capgemini, Fujitsu, Oracle, Hitachi, HP, IBM, NEC, SAP, U.S. Department of Defense, NASA, etc. Formed in 1996, it provides services in strategy, management, innovation and research, standards, certification, and test development. The Open Group is best known as the certifying body for the UNIX trademark and its publication of the Single UNIX Specification technical standard. The Open Group also develops and manages the The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) standard, which is an industry standard enterprise architecture framework. Panel members include Dana Gardner (Principal Analyst, Interarbor Solutions); Len Fehskens (Vice President of Skills and Capabilities, The Open Group); Madhav Naidu (Lead Enterprise Architect, Ciena Corp.); William B. Rouse (Professor, School of Industrial and Systems Engineering and College of Computing at Georgia Institute of Technology, and Principal, Rouse Associates, LLC); and Jeanne Ross (Director and Principal Research Scientist, MIT Center for Information Systems Research). For definitions of both enterprise architecting (EA) and enterprise transformation (ET), see Glazner (2011).
