ResumoDuring 1993, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) continued to promote respect for the protection and use of intellectual property through cooperation among States and ensuring administrative cooperation among the intellectual property “Unions.” WIPO’s three governing bodies, namely, the General Assembly, the Conference and the Coordination Committee, held their twenty-fourth series of meetings (Geneva, 20-29 September) and approved a draft programme and budget covering the period 1994-1995 in the amount of 230 million Swiss francs. They decided to apply as from 1 January 1994, for a four-year trial period covering the bienniums 1994-1995 and 1996-1997, a unitary contribution system, under which each member State would pay one contribution only, regardless of the number of contribution-financed Unions of which it was a member.
